Change the education to change the world

We have read an interesting interview with Claudio Naranjo, a reputed 75-year-old Chilean psychiatrist with a large professional career. Visit our country, specifically the city of Barcelona, to give an interesting conference, “Change the education to change the world”.

According to Naranjo, the basis to improve our planet, to solve world conflicts, the problems present in our society, etc., it is necessary to change education, it is used as a method of indoctrination or recruitment in our society, according to its words, the School is used to tame. The current educational system produces selfish people and practices that do not fully enjoy the gift of life, there is an educational lack so that children can be happy. The psychiatrist does not agree with the current educational system, indicates that the score that is performed (exams, the correction of homework ...) is not adequate, learning must start from the curiosity of children and the desire to learn. Repeating the things learned kills children's curiosity little by little, making their desire to learn diminish.

Claudio Naranjo emphasizes the importance of not wasting time for the little ones, according to his words, they spend many years in schools learning stupidities that will not serve them tomorrow. Current education cultivates negative emotions, creating selfish people.

In short, it is a point of view that we share in part, it is true that education needs to enhance values such as socialization, understanding, respect, etc., but to say that the current education system is useless is an observation extremist.

The psychiatrist himself can be satisfied with how far he has come thanks to the educational system that has taught him a lot throughout his life. We must also bear in mind that the current educational system is being remodeled, aspects that were not previously contemplated, now they are considered cultivating beneficial values in children, although they still have much to improve.

What do you think, do you share the opinion of the reputed psychiatrist?
