Apples and fish during pregnancy to prevent respiratory allergies

A few days ago our partner Dolores informed us about the importance of eating apples during pregnancy to prevent possible respiratory problems in children. Now we expand the information with the incorporation of the fish that performs the same function as the apple. A group of Researchers belonging to the University of Utrecht (Holland), the RIVM Center and the University of Aberdeen (United Kingdom) among others, have developed a study that shows an association between the feeding of the future mother and the possible emergence of respiratory allergies in children in the future.

Data were taken from the diets carried out by 1,924 future moms and different tables were prepared showing the preferred and most consumed foods such as fruit, dairy, fish, etc., 1,253 children born to these mothers were subsequently followed up during 5 years. The researchers found no relationship between the mother's diet and possible respiratory problems with the exception of two foods, apple and fish. It was discovered that apples and fish taken during pregnancy significantly prevent possible respiratory allergies suffered by children. A healthy and balanced diet is essential during pregnancy, incorporating apples and fish will be very beneficial to ensure better health in children.

The study has been published in the electronic magazine Thorax.
