Where the youngest population in the world lives

In Spain 15% of the population is under 14 years old as can be seen on the map and in the dynamic infographic prepared by The Bank World Development Indicators (data of world development) with data from 2013. This graph helped me to remember the concepts learned when studying the population pyramids in the school . If when I studied them, they looked like that, pyramids, now they have shapes, at least in Spain, that remind me of Venus Perigordians.

The tragedy, or so it seems, is that it is a feature of the Western world in which for whatever reason the younger generations have not (we) wanted to keep up with the growth rate and youth decreases dramatically. Yes it grows in South Asia and in Africa although there are huge contrasts. As the article in The Atlantic says, 50% of Nigeria's population is under 14 and in Japan this percentage decreases to 13%. In Spain we are at 15% and with a very high youth unemployment rate which can translate into medium-long term problems when the generation that is working becomes retired and those positions are not filled.

In the image you can see, by countries, how the percentage of young people under 14 decreases. For this, a heat map is used that indicates that the less intense the color, the lower the percentage. Spain can be found in the end with many European countries and very close to the United States.

I think it's time to take drastic decisionsOne of them would be to reduce protectionism for young people and to encourage them to work and become independent as soon as possible, to create jobs for them and mainly to train them in useful, sustainable and lasting productive models. Therefore entrepreneurship seems like a good start although much remains to be done. Obviously, those who emigrate, with a good knowledge base, have a better chance of developing, although they must be able to return to Spain with conditions that improve those achieved in other countries.

I like the graph because it allows us to see the northern hemisphere maintains very different growth figures from the southern hemisphere. Perhaps it is also the time to organize more efficient migratory movements although in my opinion one of the keys to achieving a sustainable model is to have a well-trained generation, with talent and skills, and that will have to access a global market. And the sooner they do better.
