Encourage exercise practice in children

Performing physical activity on a regular basis is essential for the development of the little ones. Not only does it help prevent childhood obesity, but it strengthens bones and muscles, improves mood and promotes growth, so it is very important encourage exercise in children.

Parents are the ones who should set the example. They see in us their reflection, so if parents are active, children will be too.

When talking about physical activity, we don't necessarily talk about the practice of some sport. Physical activity is considered any body movement produced by skeletal muscles, with the consequent energy consumption. This includes sports, exercise and other activities, such as playing, walking, skipping rope, dancing at home, walking the dog or kicking a ball.

The recommendations about the time children should do physical activity are very different. There are those who recommend one hour of physical activity a day to promote active growth in children, that if we include walking, games and other activities that children do is achievable, even those who claim that seven minutes of intense exercise a day are enough to improve the state of general form.

The important thing, I think, is that we make the children move and instill the habit of daily exercise. Teach them that there is a whole world of possibilities beyond TV and computer, that outdoor life stimulates the senses, and it is we, with our company and motivation, who have the obligation to show them those other possibilities.
