Video: this is how licorice and jelly beans are made

Lately at home we are curious about the "Way to go" program of Discovery Channel, which shows us the manufacture of the most varied objects or food processing ... I was especially struck by this video that shows us how licorice sweets and jelly beans are made.

The candy licorice, which exists in the red or black varieties, does not actually have licorice root (which I liked so much as a child, and even chew sometimes), but its basic ingredients are wheat, sugar and syrup corn, plus the corresponding natural and artificial colors and aromas.

Some molds, some blades and the oven to solidify the mixture make in a short time the licorice sticks are obtained that will later look for the most difficult corners between the teeth to look for shelter.

About jelly beans, are made using molds of different forms with cornstarch, to which a cooked mixture of gelatin, sugar, corn syrup, dyes and aromas will be added. Then the cornstarch attached to the jelly beans is removed (and reused in successive manufacture of new treats).

And if you were wondering why jelly beans tend to be so bright, this is because they are finally applied with a mineral oil. These types of oils, obtained by oil refining, are often used as a lubricant and are widely used in the metalworking and automotive industry.

As a curiosity, point out that gummy worms not only love children: fish also often bite when fishermen use them as bait.

After this sugar rush with the video that shows us how children's favorite treats are made I can't resist searching our archives and remembering these ten facts about goodies. To not forget to brush our teeth after enjoying these sweets!
