A judge rules in favor of homeschooling in the "Good Law" program

"In good law" is a television program that is broadcast on Telecinco in which televised trials are held, along with a debate among the audience as an audience that adds a bit of "chicha" to the matter.

A few days ago a case was issued in which the director of a school accused a mother of not being educating her children, since after starting the course last year at school, the mother decided to take them out and educate them at home.

The judge, at the end of the program and after a heated debate, ruled in favor of the mother and therefore in favor of the homeschooling as an educational option.

You can see the video of the program on the Telecinco website and, personally, I highly recommend it because the debate does not focus only on whether the option of educating at home is valid or not, but also touches on traditional education and doubt arises to what extent the education that our children receive is of sufficient quality.

As I understand it (or as the bad tongues say), the protagonists of the cases are actors, who interpret real cases. That is, the director, the mother and probably some of the members of the public have a learned script created from a real case and, therefore, with a ruling by the royal judge.

In spite of this, the debate is very interesting because in it the majority of arguments that are used for and against education at home and for and against traditional education in schools can be heard.

The best thing about the program, for me, is the judge's failure to say: "What is not prohibited is not illegal", since in Spain education at home is not regulated in any way.

We must also bear in mind that television is one of the most important socializing agents and that It has a great normalizing power (You know, "it's true, I saw it on TV"). That Spanish society can see a program in which they talk about education at home admitting it as a perfectly valid educational option will probably cause many parents to breathe a little calmer when they explain that “my son does not go to school, because we educate him at home "
