Are convertible cribs practical?

Today we can find various models of convertible cribs in baby furniture stores. But before we get carried away by the illusion of putting together the ideal room for our baby, we must think about if it is a practical solution or not to buy a convertible crib.

There are cribs convertible into beds and of which we will talk today that they are large furniture that incorporate a cot, chest of drawers or bookshelf, changing table and sometimes a trundle bed or storage drawers underneath. These, once they are not used as cots, become a bed with drawers or a bed under more drawers.

In Carrefour's blog I arrive at the end of the month, Pintxo tells us why not buy a convertible crib. He regrets being carried away by the excitement of a first-time father when he bought a crib furniture for his son. Let's look at his arguments.

Many parents will have had the same bad experience as our partner Pintxo, although others will undoubtedly be delighted with their crib furniture. Let's talk about what are the disadvantages of which he speaks when assessing whether it is a good purchase or not.

For starters, they are expensive furniture. Around 1,200 euros depending on the accessories and the finishes we choose, so it must be a well thought out purchase. It may seem the best solution for small spaces but then it becomes a huge dish difficult to adapt. Buying each complement separately can be cheaper (calculates a saving of 500 euros) and allows us to adapt each piece of furniture to the available space.

Another disadvantage of this type of furniture is that the cradle measures tend to be larger than the traditional ones, making it more difficult to find sheets that fit them.

On the other hand, the crib is too large for a newborn baby and cannot be transported, so its actual use is not until after the first months. A smaller crib is more likely to be passed to the parents' room and used with a reducer thus avoiding the expense of a bassinet or a mini-cradle.

In addition, if tomorrow you plan to have another child in terms of space, a bunk bed is much more profitable than a trundle bed, although like everything else, it is a matter of taste.

Of course, it is a personal experience, but it is interesting before making such an important purchase to know the opinion of someone who has not found it. What experience have you had with convertible cribs?
