Mater Láctea and Guido Dettoni: motherhood and breastfeeding made art

That motherhood and breastfeeding is something deeply inspiring and sensitive is something that is clearly perceived in this web full of poetry, emotion and art.

The website is from a Catalan group that is based on the work of Guido Dettoni, an Italian sculptor creator of Mansmateria: the creative process that involves the encounter of hands and matter. The Nesher society promotes its projects.

In addition to his own moving work, he is a man aware of motherhood and breastfeeding and, to honor and defend them, he has created Mater Láctea that tries to call the collective artistic action, inspired by your work process.

In different meetings, the hands of mothers and children and pregnant women blindfold malleable material (usually wax). There is no concrete intention but they let themselves be carried away for the moment and music, caressing the matter and giving free rein to their creativity and their feelings, being the link between the whole concept of nurturing and loving motherhood.

After this creative work, Guido Dettoni digitizes the images corresponding to a point of view, chosen by the mothers and children who have modeled them.

These sculptures can be enlarged to be installed in public places and become a symbol of motherhood and defense of breastfeeding. In this video you can see the results of the art of mothers and this artist. Although it is in English, the images say it all.

Hopefully one day we can see more works like these on the street that remind us of the low valued role of motherhood in the world.
