The week in Babies and more: from January 28 to February 3

As we usually do on the blog, every Monday we review the contents that we published the week that happened in Babies and more.

Last days, one of the central themes has been Carnival, with tips to disguise the little ones. We have talked about face makeup to complement the Carnival costumes, some very funny caps and I have made a personal comment with which you can agree or not, that Carnival children's costumes are uncreative and unimaginative, that is that parents would have to give the matter a little more imagination.

Regarding childbirth we have echoed the words of the natural birth expert Michel Odent, who wondered in a recent meeting between midwives, if we will survive caesarean sections.

And about postpartum, VelSid recommended that recent mothers invest time in sleep because specialists suggest that sleeping well in the months after childbirth helps reduce the pounds gained during pregnancy, too bad that with a newborn baby that does not be very feasible, sleep well, I say.

Speaking of newborns, we have known that half of the babies born today will reach 100 years of age and we also talk about the importance of adequate pain treatment in premature babies. On premature babies too, one study found that a dose of magnesium sulfate given to the mother before giving birth reduces the risk of cerebral palsy in half in the baby.

Also related to children's health, I have learned of a very rare syndrome called tourniquet syndrome caused by the strangulation of a baby's toe, hand or penis with a hair, thread or fiber of some garment.

How far can the cultural influences that Vietnamese do not want to bring children into the world in the next year of the rat in the Chinese horoscope. The Spaniards are not for the work of having children, but that is for other reasons.

We wanted to know how you do to calm your baby's cry and receive some very interesting suggestions. Also, we talk about the usefulness of multimedia books to encourage reading in children.

We also discovered Zara's maternity denim line collection, a designer table with two chairs for the children's room, some vans for the kids and, finally, Eliana taught us that the walls of the children's room can tell a beautiful story.
