€ 1,600 fine for speaking ill of the teacher in the class WhatsApp group

Already not even WhatsApp private groups are private, so when communicating we must be very careful with what is said and how it is said. The fever of WhatsApp groups of mothers and fathers of schools, of which teachers are not part, can sometimes lead to discussions, debates or criticisms, which are not always unscathed.

At least that is what can be concluded after seeing that the Prosecutor's Office asks € 1,600 fine to the mother of a child in fifth grade in Vigo, who talked about a teacher in the group, alerting other mothers.

Mother's words

As we read in the Lighthouse of Vigo, the mother said this in the class group:

I am going to tell you what my son is suffering. Professor G.H. is dedicated to shaking him in bad ways, to pull his arm, mocks him, eats the sandwich ... By this I mean that you control your children and ask them about this individual.

The words left the group and reached the direction of the school, so that the teacher found out about it and decided to denounce. Thus, the mother ended up on the bench of the Criminal Court 3 of Vigo, accused of committing a crime of insults against her person and fined paying 1,600 euros for writing "disqualifying the good name and decency of the offended", according to the prosecutor .

I just wanted to let you know and know if it happened with other children

The mother, at the trial, acknowledged being the author of WhatsApp and explained that he did not do it with "offense", but with the intention of knowing if it also happened with other students, because that was what his son had told him.

When a stir was created following the message, the mother apologized both personally and through the group, but the teacher did not consider the apology to be sufficient: "She apologized on the WhatsApp for putting that message, but not for the content. comment has been a grievance to my credibility, I have lost weight and generated comments from parents against me that are not true. " In addition, he said that because of the event the magic had "broken" with the students of that class.

Did he eat his sandwich?

The teacher has worked at the center since 1985, and apparently has never had similar problems (at least according to the head of studies and the inspector of Education). Referring to whether he ate the sandwich, the teacher explained this:

I like to awaken creativity in them and play with the senses. That is why we play with food, we feel it before, we smell it, the students see me and they call me a sausage monster, and that is why the child can say that I eat his sandwich, but we are only playing. I don't want this to become a problem but I also don't want to tiptoe.

There is a lot of data missing

I do not dare to say who is right about both of us, nor am I anyone to comment, precisely because missing a lot of data. We only know what the mother said, based on the words of the child, and the two affected, the boy and the teacher, we only have her version.

The mother wanted to put the rest of the parents in warning, also seeking her opinion, in case someone else had happened, and what happened was that some of the parents were put on alert, the debate was generated and so it all came to the address.

What would have been the most sensible? That the mother go directly to the teacher or the school address to ask about it, based on the child's words. If the teacher's guilt is confirmed, then the warning could be given, or request measures so that it would not be repeated. But this is something that is usually considered a posteriori ... it is usual for parents to ask other parents if the same thing happens to them, in order to confirm the child's version in some way, and then act.

But I repeat, I speak without knowing why data is missing. The important thing about this publication is to reach mothers and fathers who what we say in WhatsApp groups can reach the courts.
