A 10-year-old girl's letter to her father's boss: an original campaign to promote business reconciliation

Family reconciliation in Spain seems like a fantasy that never comes true. We lose half a life at work, downplaying what should be a priority, our children. It is precisely what an original campaign carried out by the Yerno agency for the Department of Equality of the City of Elche (Alicante), through Casa de la Dona. That companies become aware of the importance of conciliation in the construction of a fair and equal society.

The idea is very simple but effective, because gives children a voice, which are the major victims of the very poor reconciliation policies that most Spanish companies have. Consists in a letter that a 10-year-old girl writes to her father's boss, explaining the need to shorten lunch time to be able to spend more time with his mother. And along with the letter, he sends you a sandwich that can be eaten in half an hour.

In Spain it is customary to take two hours to eat thus delaying the departure time in the afternoon, and reaching to extend the working day until seven or eight in the afternoon. If the continuous day were encouraged with 30-45 minutes to eat, employees could be home with their children before. There is no awareness to what extent it is necessary for society that parents spend more time with their children, that they can share games, leisure time, sit together at dinner time (in many houses it is not done). Children spend a lot of time alone or in the care of other people.

The campaign consists of making a special shipment to 15 selected companies with some "details" that make them aware: a letter from the protagonist of the video, a taper with a sandwich, a kitchen timer indicating the half hour and a letter from the Councilor for Equality requesting collaboration in the campaign.

Have you ever thought what would your children say in a letter to your bosses?
