Stories that are not made for children (and yet they live)

It is not a story, much less fairy. The situation that thousands of Syrian families and children are going through looking for a safe home to live, far from war, removes us every day watching the news. Or is it not every day? UNICEF reminds us that there are many Fairy tales, sad ending, starring the most defenseless, children. And they are real stories.

Children on this path leave their home behind and may lose their friends, family and even their own life. It is estimated that two children die every day on the route to Greece, and Save the Children claims that more than 1250 refugee children have arrived alone in the Hellenic country so far this year. It is one of the stories we see in the videos, that of "Mustafa goes for a walk", with his family dispersed, leaving behind his toys and without friends in a refugee camp.

These videos prepared for UNICEF are cartoons but at the end of each one we discover that they are real stories, lived and told by the same protagonist children. Like the story of "Malak and the ship," which Malak suffered, a seven-year-old boy who lost his family. Or that of Ivine and his pillow, which always dawns soaked in tears because the images of war and the hard road torment her.

The situation of refugee children is not very optimistic. The recent agreement that the European Union has signed with Turkey is denounced by the NGOs and we hope that this complaint together with the actions that many people generously do or campaigns such as UNICEF open their eyes to society and who, from power, could Do more to help families.

Certainly, some stories are not made for children and we see it in these exciting videos from UNICEF showing the tragic situation of refugees every day, an unprecedented crisis that is a sad and dangerous exodus. A situation against which we cannot, we must not remain impassive.
