Four men experience labor pain to prove (or not) that they are unable to bear it

A few days ago it was Mother's Day in the USA. and other American countries (on the 10th) and to celebrate it, four men, known for their Facebook page The Try Guys tried to demonstrate what it would be like to be a mother, both carrying a belly simulating a pregnancy and trying to feel the same as if they were in labor .

To do this, they decided to carry out an experiment that other men have done before, based on putting some patches of electrical stimulation in the abdomen to experience what could be closer to the pain of a birth. For what? Well to see how much are we men capable of demonstrating and how long would it take to ask for the epidural.

To do the experiment they put the patches on different areas of the body. To all in the abdominal area, but to some also in the lower back and one of them even lent itself to putting them very close to their noble parts, because he thought that this would be closer to what a birth really is.

Lying on the couch, a woman was stimulating them increasing the intensity, at intervals, as if they were contractions, until they reached the point where They couldn't stop screaming "Epidural!". At that moment everything was over, because the birth was not hurting and the experiment no longer made sense.

Obviously, the video is filmed and recorded in a humorous way and has no other mission than to entertain us for a while with that of "you see? You are so sick that you would not be able to give birth like us." However, if we were really in labor, the result could be very different.

Does a woman withstand the pain of that stimulation machine?

It is not for being complaining (OK, sometimes I am), but to do an experiment well you have to try to make the people you compare live the same, or as close as possible. And what these guys do has nothing to do with giving birth.

Can't we get them to have a baby? Well maybe we should put several women who have not been mothers next to these boys and see what happens, because it is not the same to be 9 months gestating a baby and preparing for childbirth than going any day to see a girl to put some patches on your abdomen and torture you. Come on, I am sure that you take any girl, the graves, you put the electrodes, and scream the same until the moment of "Epidural!".

What maybe I am wrong? Perhaps yes, in fact, I am convinced that if the study were done, women would endure more pain than we, men, but the experiment would have to be done to confirm it.

As it has not been done, the result is biased. Where is the baby of these four men? Because I see that it hurts a lot and they go home without baby. Is it the same to suffer a pain when you know the result will be a baby, a little thing that is born of you and that you will love more than anyone else, than to suffer because yes, without more reason to see how long you endure?

At least it helps them understand women

Come on, as for pain, as I comment, we do not extract much information. They are not giving birth, so the experiment is unrepresentative. Does it hurt like women? Well, it might be the same pain, more or less, and this is positive because at least they are able to understand the pain that women explain when they are in labor. In fact, one of them says at the end of the video that It is an incredible feeling to know that someone has suffered so much to give him life. In this sense, it seems like a good experiment.

And what about the epidural?

The part in which they shout "Epidural!" To avoid more pain I have enough left over, really. They could have changed the cry for a "I can't do it anymore!", Which after all is the same and total, as I say, you go home without your baby. What do I mean by this? Well, it seems that the epidural is the lifeline of all of them, when It is still a type of anesthesia that should be used only if necessary.

Yes, okay, it is the mother who decides whether to use it or not, but it should be clear that the epidural involves risks that should not be overlooked, since not everything is summed up to give birth in pain or give birth without pain. If so, all women would give birth with epidural. But it's not like that. Eliminates the pain, but in return it can stop the delivery, it may make the use of oxytocin necessary, it can cause bradycardia in the baby and you lose the possibility of adopting the position you need so that everything goes well, basically because the body stops sending you the signs that tell you what is the best position at each moment. It increases with all this the instrumentalization of childbirth and increase the chances of labor ending with forceps, suction cup or caesarean section, being all that that moves you away from a normal birth.

In short, the video is not to take it very seriously, but simply to see four uncles screaming and laugh a little with them. If you see it with the intention of learning something, forget it: you will not know whether or not we are able to give birth, nor will you learn that the epidural helps you in some things, but it can harm you in others.
