Nap in pregnancy: the most precious rest

From the moment of conception, the woman's body sets in motion a complex hormonal mechanism to house and nurture a new life. It increases the volume of blood that circulates through your veins and also increases the pulse, so that you understand it better, your organism goes into forced marches, so you also need more rest to recover the spent energy.

If we add to this the fatigue that some women experience during pregnancy, especially in the first weeks, and the weight of the gut that is increasing, the nap in pregnancy tastes like glory, it becomes the most precious rest.

The days can be very long. Work, commitments and chores that do not end, making the end of the day look like a goal that never comes. The most advisable, whenever possible, is take a nap in the middle of the day to recover and recharge the batteries needed to reach the end of the day.

A sociological study on vitality and Nutrition in Spain by Zespri reveals that 82% of pregnant women say they feel more vital during the first part of the day, especially during the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., where a 72%, a much higher percentage than the general population, which stands at 58%.

The nap is something very typical spanish. Don't take your nap! But the truth is that in the day to day it becomes difficult to at least take a little head after eating.

Half of the respondents said they usually take a nap after eating at least once a week. Of these, only 14% do it daily and 28% two or three times a week. In fact, pregnant women do it more frequently (two or three times a week) than those who are not pregnant. Also, 28% say they do not take a nap regularly and only 8% never do.

Rest in pregnancy is very important. Keep in mind that the baby receives nutrients through your blood flow and in addition to eating a varied diet, exercising and keeping stress as far as possible, rest also contributes to a healthy pregnancy. If you are resting, improve blood flow by optimizing the arrival of oxygen and nutrients to the baby.

Therefore, look for a short time to rest in the middle of the day. Try to sleep a nap of half an hour in a comfortable place, ideally on the left side to facilitate circulation, or rest on the sofa with your legs up, or at least take a break on your workday reducing the noise level and practicing some relaxation technique.
