Do you know what is the "ring of fire" in the vagina when giving birth?

One of the things that surprised me the most when I saw my children born (those who were born by vaginal delivery), of what they come to live, is the call "fire ring". I did not know it existed, and many women when they are going to give birth do not know if anyone has told them about it before. You don't know what the fire ring is? Well, right now we explain it, and if you know it, because you lived it, do you tell us your experience? Did you notice the "ring of fire" in the vagina when giving birth?

What is the fire hoop?

"Now you will notice a ring of fire," they said when the head was about to leave. I was quite surprised ... fire ring? What do you mean? I began to imagine fire, and I looked curiously at Miriam's vulva, and her expression, while the little head peeked out more and more and she said "it burns me, it burns me!".

Apparently, it was not so much pain, but also, a new unknown sensation that made him verbalize it as seeking approval, the phrase that confirmed that it was normal. A midwife began to take serum, I guess to counteract that burning sensation, and said: "Do not push, do not force ... especially, do not push! You play the tear", and soon that sensation disappeared, when the Head finally came out.

He fire ring It doesn't really have much secret, but sometimes it is worth knowing what it is for, at the time of delivery, to be aware of what will happen. It is a burning sensation, burning, in the entire circumference of the perineum, at dilate with the exit of the baby's head. That sensation happens when the perineum is almost at maximum, when it is so dilated, so bulky, that the tissues do not give much more of themselves and that tension hurts, noting the sensation of fire that women explain.

Not everyone notices

If you ask women if they noticed the fire hoop when giving birth many will say no (probably many answer that they did not notice). And it is that not all babies are equally large and not all perinees equally elastic. There are women who notice it because the head of their babies take their perineum to the limit and others that give birth to babies with smaller heads that, although they are very dilated, do not take it to the point of "burning."

Some women explain that they noticed it at the first birth, but that they didn't notice it in the second or third birth, when everything goes faster (as a rule).

Other women who may not notice it are those who perform perineal massage during pregnancy. There are not many women who do, who massage the perineum, but it has been shown effective to increase elasticity, avoid tears and decrease pain, so it is a maneuver to take into account to prepare you a little better for childbirth.
